Jose Aliaga

Independence Twp. Trustee

Jose Aliaga has four years experience serving as an Independence Township Trustee. He is also a member of our Safety Path Committee. Jose acted as a liaison to Independence Twp Public Cable Television, wherein the Cable Commission transferred the broadcasting location to Clarkston High School.  This leadership saved taxpayers $50,000 annually, while also giving many students real-world experience and opportunity working in a professional studio.

When Jose emigrated here from Peru 17 years ago, he had nothing, and spoke no English.  Now he is a U.S. Citizen; he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences (with a Concentration on History), both from the University of Michigan.

Currently he works for The State of Michigan in the Department of Health and Human Services, and he previously worked as a Spanish Teacher at Frankel Jewish Academy.
